Many people think that they know when it's time to contact an electrician. But at times, we believe we'll just delay it or even do it ourselves. However, it is important to ensure that you do not put your family members or yourself in danger. You must make sure your electrical problems are addressed. The following are a few signs to look out for to determine when you should call an electrician like us.
Flickering lights: You notice that the light in your bedroom isn't quite as bright, or your light flickers before turning on. If you notice these symptoms, it could be due to an issue with the connection in the circuit. If tightening the bulbs and plugging in appliances to different outlets isn't working, then call an electrician!
Bumps under your rug: Do you step onto rug bumps due to trying to stretch one cord to reach the next one? Contact an electrician to discuss additional outlets for your home. You may not believe it, but it could be creating the conditions for a potentially dangerous living space.
Warm to touch: Are your switches and outlets warm? Are there black marks around the switch's surface? Does it cause it to give it some shock? It could be due to excessive demand on the circuit or something else. Check it out in the event of a problem.
Rust: Are you seeing your service panel showing evidence of rust or water? There is a problem. Deterioration on the panel could be threatening the wiring connections. Contact us to check for damage.
An old-fashioned system: If you reside in an older residence, there's a chance that you're using an older system that isn't able to stand up to today's electricity demands. Check to see if your system is in good working order as it could be dangerous if not.
There are no three pronged outlets: You may find yourself thinking, "So I don't have three pronged outlets; what's the problem?" The issue is that if you don't have three outlets, your electrical system may not be properly grounded and, therefore, unsafe. Additionally, it could be irritating if you purchase an appliance that has three pronged outlets that doesn't work!
An octopus at every outlet: If you've got cords for plugs or other multi-receptacle accessories connected to your outlets, you're creating electrical problems that push your system to the limit of its capability. Find an electrician to deal with this issue to allow you to use the electronics you have without burning your system.
The outlet or switch isn't working: If you have an entire set of outlets that aren't operating or are broken, you could have an unreliable connection somewhere along the way. An electrician can fix this issue for you.
In the dark: If your circuit breaker is tripping or a fuse goes out more often than you prefer, your circuit may be drawing more power than they are able to provide. This can be dangerous, and you must consult an electrician right away.
If you think that you'll be able to handle everything by yourself, be sure to ensure your safety is the top priority over all else. Electricians are well-trained to deal with such circumstances. Make an appointment in case any of these situations seem familiar to you, to allow our electricians to come in!
